AI Leadership Calibration

AI Leadership Calibration

A 90-day compass check for leaders making AI decisions with their teams.

Clarify how AI changes your role, your team’s decisions, and the trust people place in your leadership. Designed for executive directors, operations leads, programme directors, founders, and team leaders who are responsible for quality, judgment, and follow-through.

You already have a compass. We help you use it in new terrain.

This is about calibration, not deficiency. Good leaders recalibrate when the operating environment changes.

The leadership questions underneath the AI questions

The practical AI questions matter. But for leaders, the deeper work is deciding what to protect, what to change, what to communicate, and what should not sit with individual staff alone.

  • What bet are you placing on AI in your field, and what would make you revise it?
  • What won’t your organisation do with AI, even if the tool makes it possible?
  • Where is AI speeding up decisions faster than your team, board, or stakeholders can absorb?
  • If AI created a 30% productivity gain this year, where should that value go?
  • What should stay human because it carries trust, mission, or judgment?

What this is, and what it isn’t

What this is

  • A focused calibration for leaders responsible for team-level AI decisions
  • A clear orientation on decision rights, review gates, and accountability
  • A 90-day operating plan you and your team can understand and execute
  • Practical communication prompts for staff, board, and leadership conversations
  • Five leadership-use test cards you can run yourself

What this isn’t

  • Individual “how to use ChatGPT” training
  • Executive coaching
  • A multi-week leadership course
  • Generic AI literacy training
  • Remedial help, or a competency assessment

Questions it helps you answer

The kind of questions a responsible leader is already asking, even if they haven’t named them out loud yet.

  • What does AI change about my role?
  • What should I model for my team?
  • What should I delegate, and what shouldn’t I?
  • What needs human review, and at what stage?
  • What should I restrict, slow down, or escalate?
  • What risks or tensions do I need to name clearly?
  • What decisions should not sit only with individual staff?
  • Where do I need decision rights, review gates, or shared norms?
  • What should I communicate to staff, board, or leadership in the next 30, 60, and 90 days?

What you get

  • Leadership Calibration Brief
  • Role-level AI opportunity and risk map
  • Decision-rights and review-gates snapshot
  • 30/60/90 day action plan
  • Communication prompts for staff, board, and leadership conversations
  • Five leadership-use test cards
  • Recommended next step: wAI-Finder, AI Governance QuickStart, Workflow Upgrade with AI, team training component, or pause
  • Up to 30 minutes of follow-up clarifications inside two weeks of delivery

What we calibrate against

A short structured set of leadership dimensions that frame the conversation. The output is a brief on where your role and your team sit today, and what to focus on next. We don’t grade or score; we map and recommend.

Direction under uncertainty

Your working bet on where AI is going, which signals matter, and what deserves action now.

Workforce trust and communication

What staff need to hear, where they need real participation, and where perception needs to match substance.

Decision quality and review gates

Which decisions can move faster, which need more care, and where human review must sit.

Mission, values, and boundaries

What should stay human, what the organisation won’t do with AI, and where mission drift could creep in.

Resource allocation and follow-through

Where productivity gains should go, what capabilities to build, and what the next 30, 60, and 90 days require.

How it works

Most AI Leadership Calibration engagements take 1 to 2 weeks from intake to delivered brief. You receive the brief and test cards within 5 business days after the working session.

Intake (asynchronous). A short structured form on your role, your team, your current AI use, and the questions you’re already living with.
AI-assisted, human-reviewed research. We use public information and client-approved non-sensitive materials to map context. Findings are reviewed by AlignIQ before the session.
Working session (90 minutes). Live, with you. We work through the calibration dimensions together and surface the calls you need to make.
Brief and artefacts (within 5 business days of the session). Leadership Calibration Brief, role-level opportunity and risk map, decision-rights and review-gates snapshot, 30/60/90 day action plan, communication prompts, and five leadership-use test cards.
Follow-up window. Up to 30 minutes of clarifications inside two weeks of delivery.

Confidentiality and boundaries

We use public information and client-approved, non-sensitive materials. We do not ask you to share confidential, privileged, client-identifiable, donor-identifiable, HR, or safeguarding-sensitive data. If sensitive material is relevant to your situation, we design around it using redacted examples, categories, or process descriptions.

Sensitive, confidential, privileged, or client-identifiable information should not be entered into public AI tools. AlignIQ does not provide legal advice. AI Leadership Calibration is not a security audit, vendor contract review, or compliance certification.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a leadership course or executive coaching?

No. It’s a focused calibration for a leader who’s already responsible for team AI decisions and wants a clearer operating model. It’s not a development programme, not a coaching engagement, and not a competency assessment.

What if I don’t think of myself as “an AI person”?

You don’t need to be the tool expert. You do need enough judgment to set boundaries, ask better questions, and know what should not be delegated to individual staff.

Should I do this before or after wAI-Finder?

Either works. Some leaders run AI Leadership Calibration first to clarify their own posture before commissioning a team-level scan. Others run wAI-Finder first and then use Calibration to clarify the leader-level decisions, communication, and follow-through.

Is this for leaders who are already behind on AI?

Not mainly. It’s for leaders who know the operating environment has changed and want to make the next 90 days clearer for themselves, their staff, and their board.

Is this only for nonprofit leaders?

No. We work with leaders in nonprofits, foundations, B Corps, social-impact consultancies, and mission-driven teams inside larger purpose-led companies. The calibration is the same; the language flexes to your sector.

Can my whole leadership team do this together?

Yes, with a slightly different scope. Tell us how many people are in scope and we’ll size the engagement accordingly.

What AlignIQ does and doesn’t do. AlignIQ does not provide legal advice. Our work is not a security audit, a vendor contract review, or a compliance certification. Sensitive, confidential, privileged, or client-identifiable information should not be entered into public AI tools. High-stakes AI outputs require human review. Tool and vendor choices may need separate legal, security, or compliance review, and we’ll flag where that applies.
